Why Do Bras Have So Many Hooks? The Founder's Answer

The short answer: Not for more support. Your body changes with weight, hormones and your cycle, so the hooks let the band follow you. Start a new bra on the first or second hook and move in as the band stretches over time.

This is one of the most common questions we get in store, and the founder answered it on camera.

The founder's logic

Monoshita Ayruani: 'Why do bras have so many hooks? It is not because one hook gives any more support than the other. It is because your body changes. Your weight fluctuates, your hormones change, and even within one month your body is not the same size. The hooks let the band follow you through those changes.'

So the row of hooks is not a tightness dial. It is a lifespan extender. A new bra on the loosest hook gives you room to tighten as the elastic relaxes over weeks of wear.

How to use the hooks

When Which hook Why
Brand new bra Loosest (outermost) Band is at full tension; no stretch yet
After a few weeks Middle hook Band has relaxed slightly
Months in Tightest (innermost) Elastic has stretched; this reclaims the fit
Tightest hook and still loose Time for a new bra Elastic no longer springs back

The Signature Seamless Bra uses a multi-hook closure designed to last 6 to 9 months of regular wear.

Questions women ask us

More hooks means more support, right?

No. A wider band with more hooks distributes pressure across more surface area, which feels more comfortable, but the support comes from the band tension, not the number of hooks.

My bra only has two hooks. Is that enough?

For most women in M to L, two hooks are fine. Wider bands with three or four hooks are designed for fuller busts where more surface area helps.

Should I skip hooks as the bra stretches?

Move one hook at a time. Skipping to the tightest hook too early shortens the usable life of the bra.
